Code of Conduct

Early Careers Network in Prosthetics and Orthotics Limited (ECPO) Code of Conduct

Purpose

ECPO exists to support learning, collaboration, networking, and professional development among early career professionals within prosthetics and orthotics.

This Code of Conduct sets out the standards of behaviour expected from everyone participating in ECPO activities, whether online or in person.

It applies to:

  • Members

  • Volunteers

  • Speakers

  • Event attendees

  • Committee members

  • Partners and sponsors

  • Website users

Expected Behaviour

Participants are expected to:

Be Respectful

  • Treat all members with professionalism and courtesy.

  • Value differing viewpoints and experiences.

  • Communicate constructively and professionally.

Be Inclusive

  • Welcome people from diverse backgrounds.

  • Support equality, diversity, and inclusion.

  • Avoid language or behaviour that excludes or marginalises others.

Be Professional

  • Maintain professional standards consistent with healthcare and professional practice.

  • Respect confidentiality where appropriate.

  • Share information responsibly.

Contribute Positively

  • Participate in discussions in good faith.

  • Support learning and development.

  • Provide constructive feedback.

 

Unacceptable Behaviour

The following behaviours will not be tolerated:

Harassment or Bullying

Including:

  • Personal attacks

  • Intimidation

  • Offensive comments

  • Persistent unwanted contact

Discrimination

Any discrimination based on:

  • Age

  • Disability

  • Race or ethnicity

  • Religion or belief

  • Sex

  • Sexual orientation

  • Gender identity

  • Pregnancy or maternity

  • Marriage or civil partnership

  • Any other protected characteristic

Inappropriate Content

Including:

  • Abusive language

  • Threatening behaviour

  • Defamatory statements

  • Hate speech

  • Unlawful content

Professional Misconduct

Including:

  • Misrepresentation of qualifications

  • Sharing confidential information without permission

  • Deliberately misleading other users

  • Offering clinical advice beyond your competence

Commercial Misuse

Including:

  • Unauthorised advertising

  • Solicitation

  • Spamming

  • Recruitment without permission

 

Events and Conferences

All attendees, speakers, organisers, sponsors, and exhibitors are expected to:

  • Behave respectfully throughout the event.

  • Follow venue rules and health and safety requirements.

  • Respect speakers and fellow delegates.

  • Refrain from disruptive behaviour.

ECPO reserves the right to remove individuals from events where behaviour breaches this Code.

 

Reporting Concerns

If you experience or witness behaviour that breaches this Code of Conduct, please report it to:

Reports will be handled:

  • Promptly

  • Fairly

  • Confidentially where possible

 

Consequences of Breaches

ECPO may take any action considered appropriate, including:

  • Informal warning

  • Formal warning

  • Content removal

  • Temporary suspension

  • Permanent removal from the community

  • Exclusion from events

  • Termination of membership

By participating in ECPO activities, using ECPO.org.uk, attending events, or engaging with members, you agree to uphold this Code of Conduct and contribute to a welcoming, respectful, and professional community.
